Hello, Ram families!  This is Mrs. Lassiter calling with the weekly announcements from Rolesville High School.

I thought you might like to know that our self-contained special education classes are joining a larger campaign known as “Spread the Word, End the Word.”  This campaign seeks to replace use of the term retarded with language that reflects respect for intellectual disabilities.  As part of the campaign, students throughout the school can sign a pledge to use a respectful attitude with words and actions.

Tomorrow, RHS will host a Winter Percussion and Guard competition.  This event will bring schools from all around to be judged and to compete.  If you want to see a really different kind of competition and love percussion ensembles or color guards, you might want to come out and see them in action.

On Tuesday, April 4th, we invite all seniors and their parents to Senior Parent Information Night.  The session will begin at 6 pm in the main gym at Rolesville High School.  Please come out and join us as we share important information with our 2017 graduates and their families.

Applications for all 2017-18 application courses whether the course is offered in the fall or spring are due March 31st.  Late application will not be accepted.  Applications may be turned in to Student Services or the teacher.

Students are now able to access the online registration system through the PowerSchool portal. Instructions for the online registration process can be found on the Rolesville High School website under Course Registration - Registration Guides.  We will have students register on March 14th during 2nd period.  However, if parents and students wish to do this at home, you may do so in advance.

Students are encouraged to choose their courses carefully as schedule change requests will not be accepted unless they meet very specific criteria as outlined in the student handbook. Registration directions have been made very clear, so take time to read carefully.  This information will include details like summer assignments, pre-requisites and more.  We have found that in the past, very few course change requests have met this criteria, and the standard will be enforced in the coming year. More information about this can be found on the website.

Our National Art Honor Society students are preparing to paint murals in the school.  We would love, love, love to have donations of paint.  If you have cans of paint that have been partially used and you would like to donate them, we would love to make use of them.  Please just bring them to the office.  We will start painting this coming week.

If you have old pairs of eye glasses that would like to donate to the Lions Club, we will have an opportunity for you to do so through RHS.  The Occupational Course of Study students will be running a drive next week.  The homeroom with the most glasses will win a pizza party.

That will do it for this week.  Make it a great weekend!
