Hello, Ram families!

It has been a wonderful first week for the summer learning program at RHS!

It is hard to believe we are actually nearing July!  

Here are a few updates for this week.

NEW

Class of 2021 Families Still Getting These Emails:  If you are still getting these emails, they should discontinue after the state rolls data at the start of July.

Office Support Next Week:  We will have limited support in the office during the week prior to Independence Day.  Please call the school office first before coming to school.  In addition to many of our data sources being unavailable for the next couple of weeks, there are meetings that will involve office staff and others are “tracked out” in the month of July.  I just do not want you to be frustrated and want you to make a plan before driving to the school.  Also, the Independence Day holiday for staff and students is July 5th (Monday), so the school will be closed.

Report Cards:  We mail these in bulk through the WCPSS mailroom.  They supposedly were sent out by Wednesday of this week, so they should arrive in homes either Friday or Saturday.

We know COVID will still be here in the new school year.  The administrative team has been talking about the impact going into the new year.  There will still be cases and the potential for necessary quarantine of 10, 14 o4 24 days.  While no student is required to get a vaccination, those who are vaccinated with both doses at least two weeks prior to the exposure will not be required to quarantine if exposed.  The impact on learning and participation in school activities could be great for those who are quarantined, especially given the transition back to the building for most students.   I make mention of this for your consideration.  If students are planning to be vaccinated, it would be most helpful to have the second vaccine complete two weeks before students return to school.

Parking and Lunch Passes:  We are working on the dates and materials necessary for us to sell these,  Please just keep your eyes on the upcoming emails for specific information.  We will also post to the school homepage in the rotator.

Class of 2022 Senior Portraits:  Appointments are now available for your portrait session on August 2-6. See the flyer for more information: in English, in Spanish. Students will pay their session fees based on which session they would like to do. To help you prepare, the prices for seating will be:

1.     Formals/Cap and Gown - $19.95
2.     All backgrounds - $39.95

Senior proofs will be emailed to the email address that students use when they sign up for their appointment. The email will be verified on picture day.  Students will have the opportunity to go to any of the high schools that Strawbridge does this summer if they are not able to make it the week Strawbridge is at Rolesville High.  Appointments are now available for your portrait session on August 2-6. FYI: Adult Ed Program for Spanish-Speaking Families Starts June 21

Plaza Comuntaria is a free adult education program for Spanish-speaking families that will operate on the Washington Magnet Elementary campus on Mondays and Thursdays from 3 - 6 p.m. Participants can earn a high school certificate in Spanish from the Mexican Department of Education. Students may begin classes at any level (elementary-high school) and will attend courses on a flexible schedule and work at their own pace. Anyone 15 or older may participate. Email plazacomunitariawes@gmail.com or call 919-378-1364 to register. Space will be available for 15 participants. Fliers are linked in the WakeConnect post if you’d like to share this information with your school communities.

Yearbooks:  Order your 2021 yearbook at jostensyearbooks.com. Due to a later sports season and publishing constraints, the 2021 Argalia will be delivered in July.
