    Hello, Ram Fam,

I hope you have had a great week so far!

    NEW

Congratulations to Maya Sinclair, RHS English Teacher!  Ms. Sinclair has been selected as a finalist for the Diane Kent-Parker First Year Teacher Award.  We are so proud of her.!

So, I need to share something personal…  As difficult as it is to say to the community, I have to let you know that I am planning to retire soon.  My last day will be January 31st.  As many of you can relate, life has taken twists and turns that I never anticipated.  It is time in my life to make family a priority.  I love this school community, but my attention needs to be with them now.  I will continue to work hard to help in transition to an interim principal and then a permanent replacement.

Dr. Savage, our Eastern Area Superintendent,  is planning to have input sessions from students, staff and parents.  I am working on the dates with him.  It looks like the conversations will be the week of December 13th.  The parent session will be held virtually.  I will send more specific information as I have it. If you would prefer to provide feedback prior to or in lieu of the virtual meeting, you may do so here.

Reminders about the Regional Championship Game at Cardinal Gibbons Friday evening:

Address:  1401 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh

Tickets:  https://spicket.events/cardinalgibbons  I learned after my earlier email that tickets are $10 for the regional event.  I copied information that CGHS sent without realizing that it costs more for this game.  I apologize.  All Tickets are General Admission (no reserved seating) for both Home & Away sections.  Fans are strongly encouraged to purchase digital tickets from Ticket Spicket in advance. Credit card purchasing will be available at the Gold Tents in front of Concessions. No cash sales.

    Parking

There is a small lot adjacent to the stadium. Most spectators will need to park in the larger lot in front of school.

    General Spectator Information

    • Stadium gates will open 1 hour before scheduled kick-off.
    • Masks must be worn inside school buildings. Masks are optional outdoors. Please bring a mask as a precaution if we have to clear the stadium for inclement weather.
    • Public restrooms will be available. Full concessions open for Varsity Football.
    • Spectators are expected to clear the stadium immediately after contests.
    • All games hosted in our Stadium will be livestreamed to the NFHS Network.

Exams:  We will soon send a plan for exams to students and parents.  Right now, the main thing you need to know is that the last five days of a semester are set as exam days (Jan. 10-14).

    REVIEW

VA Return for Second Semester:  Virtual Academy students who wish to return to in-person instruction for the Spring semester should have a parent/guardian email Ms. Nilles (knilles@wcpss.net) by Dec. 3 to ensure a smooth transition. We cannot guarantee students will get their same schedules or courses of their choice; the earlier the request is made, the better.

Wake Forest Dr. Martin Luther King's contest:  Each year, Wake Forest hosts a celebration where students are invited to participate in a variety of activities.  Awards are given.  We would love to have our students participate again this year.  Last year, our own Kashara Simpson was a winner.  Check out the opportunities at https://www.wakeforestmlkcelebration.com/home.html

Senior Cap and Gown Orders:  If you want group pricing (best it will be), you need to order by 12/17 at jostens.com.

Fast Food Deliveries for Lunch:  Deliveries from delivery services, family members or friends is not permitted. Likewise, students may not bring food from restaurants into the school during lunch or after lunch.

Mask Requirements for Indoor Sports re. Spectators:  As we transition to winter sports, remember that face coverings are still required indoors on school campuses.  The distance between students and adults should be a minimum of 6 feet to the greatest extent possible.
