• RHS Weekly Updates   |   September 20, 2017

Workday on Thursday, Sept. 21st:  We have a workday on Thursday, so students will not be on campus for classes.  I should have put that in the memo at the end of last week.

Testing Schedule for 2017-18:  We have posted what we know on the website in order to give you a ballpark time frame for assessments.  The scope of some assessments will be narrowed as we have more information as design our internal testing specifications.  It is important to note that registration for the PSAT is closed.  It will be administered on Oct. 11th at 7:30 AM.  The next opportunity for preparatory testing is the PreACT which will be offered to all 10th graders.  This assessment is a very good indicator to how the students will do on the ACT as juniors and is also very informative for students in preparation to take the ACT.

Senior Parent Night and Open House - September 26th: We are combining these events to help senior parents have only one trip for information this fall.  The senior parent meeting is at 6  PM and the open house for all grades is at 7 PM.  The senior meeting will be in the auditorium and the open house event will start in the students’ first period.  Parents, it is important that you know and bring your Ram’s schedule: 1st through 4th periods with teacher name and room number.  Each rotation will last 15 minutes with 5 minutes for travel time between classes.

Early Release:  Our first early release of the year is set for next Friday, Sept. 29th.

Volunteer Thanks:  I have had many thanks from the town for all of the wonderful assistance from our students at the annual BBQ and Bands event.  Our students made us proud!

Youth Leadership Rolesville:  Don’t forget that applications are due to the front desk no later than Sept. 28th.  Go online to find the application.  There is much information on the application to help you get a better understanding of the program that the Chamber of Commerce is developing for applicants who live in 27571.  Several other municipalities offer experiences like this leadership experience for youth. It will look incredible on all types of future applications. The application is open to sophomores through seniors.  However, in future years, seniors may be excluded.  For this reason, juniors need to seriously look at the opportunity this year.

Service Academy Day at NCSU - September 23rd (10-1 at the Witherspoon Student Center):.  Each military academy will be represented and will address your questions about applications, the nomination process and more.  Application to academies is very rigorous processes.  If your Ram is serious about West Point or the Naval Academy or other academy, this event should be well worth your time.

Student Interested in WTCC Career and College Promise Program:  This opportunity exists for students to take college classes while in high school.  If students are interested in pursuing this, there is a 6:30 PM  MANDATORY meeting on Thursday, Sept. 28th at Heritage High.  RHS has one of the highest rates for CCP in the county and we hope our students will continue to pursue this wonderful opportunity!

Homecoming Dance Tickets:  They are on sale now on the school website through Online School Payments.

Reindeer Day - Nov. 4th:  We are going to need lots of help on Friday night (3rd) to set up and Saturday all day during the event.  We have shared the opportunity with students during announcements.

Jostens Rings and Graduation Items:  They will be here at lunch on the 26th to take class ring orders with a deposit of $60.  They will also be present during Open house from 5-7:30 PM on the 26th.  On the 27th, they will be here to take cap, gown, tassel and other senior product orders.  A $60 deposit is required to place an order.

PSAT Registration Deadline:  Friday (21st)...Go to Online School Payments on our school website to pay the $16 fee.  The assessment will be October 11th at RHS.
