RHS Weekly Announcements | March 26, 2021
Hello, Ram families!
I hope you all will have a wonderful spring break!
As we have more students return to campus on Plan A, there are several things families need to remember.
Students with IEPs or 504s
Current Virtual Academy students with IEPs and 504s may return on April 8th with the Plan A students. It is important that you notify your Ram’s case manager immediately if you have not already informed him or her that your Ram will be returning from Virtual Academy.
If your Ram was on Plan B but you wish to be in Virtual Academy, we also need you to contact your Ram’s case manager immediately if you have not already informed him or her that your Ram will be in Virtual Academy.
If your Ram is staying the course in Plan A or Virtual Academy, there is no need to contact us for changes.
Students without IEPs or 504s
We sent a form earlier this week for those families who wish to change from Plan A to Virtual Academy or Virtual Academy to Plan A. This form requires parents to use their Ram’s account to access the Office 36 form. Please remember that all submissions must be made by April 1st. We will communicate with you about the start date for the schedule changes.
Parking and Off-Campus Passes
I sent information to families on Thursday, March 24th, via SchoolMessenger. Please read that information carefully to prepare all required forms necessary for parking and/or lunch passes. Important dates are included in that email.
There are a couple of things we need to clarify. If a student already has a parking pass, they do not fill anything out. A permanent pass will be provided for them during the week of April 12. They can use their temporary pass until April 16th. If a student has a parking pass and wants to go off campus for lunch, they still need to complete the off-campus pass form and get it notarized. Also, sophomores may apply for a parking pass if they are already driving.
Important: Bus Riders Requesting Transportation While Opting Out of Virtual Academy
Eligible bus riders currently in Virtual Academy returning to in-person learning must apply for bus service. The student must meet all transportation eligibility requirements. Students must also submit the daily attestation form. Bus assignments will not be provided until the attestation form is received. Parents should be guided to the transportation website to apply for service (wcpss.net/busrider) and to submit the attestation form (wcpss.net/busform). Requests made for transportation will be closed after three days if the attestation form is not received, and the parent will be notified. Students will be assigned to a bus as quickly as possible after the attestation form is received. Typically, riders are assigned within a few days after the department receives all required information. Depending on the volume of students returning to in person learning, it could be longer.
From PTSA: Thank you parents who donated items to the Top ‘O the Morning Coffee & Donut Break for teachers & staff. We appreciate you helping to send hugs & smiles to our Ram family! They loved it & was a welcome lucky break for all!! 🍀 🍀
RHS PTSA Scholarship due by April 30, 2021. Google doc attached.
SENIORS
Planning for Graduation: As you know, there will be no graduation ceremonies at the Raleigh Convention Center this year. Schools will host their own ceremonies on site. We will host both larger ceremonies similar to the RCC ceremony and intimate celebrations for families who prefer not to be in large crowds. We will soon send information to help you plan. We will also ask you to commit to one format or the other to help us plan accordingly. In the meantime, there are a couple of things senior families need to do now to prepare.
- If you have not ordered a cap and gown, you must do so through Jostens.com. You must have a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony. The next cap and gown distribution will be on April 22nd from 3-4PM.
- As you can imagine, expenses to hold events at school will increase in order to plan for and deliver nice events. Senior fees must be paid through Online School Payments on our school website. Thank you to those who have already taken care of this. For those who need to do so, please go ahead and submit the fees to allow us to prepare.
PTSA Scholarship: As mentioned earlier, PTSA is sponsoring two scholarships each in the amount of $250 to two RHS seniors who must be members of the PTSA. The application is online this year and can be found here. Applications will be accepted from April 1st until April 30th only.
Senior Ads are due 4/1 for the 2021 yearbook! You can purchase and design your senior's ad using Jostens Ad Service.
CTE Concentrator Survey for Seniors: Mrs. Long has requested that all seniors complete the following survey. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfT9e-JP5Y9rWVcrhxYi_WAECNNdOMtAixY1tUz_-0DIxD0ZQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

Students who upload a portrait or who had their picture taken by Strawbridge will be entered to win a free 2019 or 2020 yearbook

Regarding Spectator Expansion for Sports: Most of you are aware that all tickets must be bought online through Go Fan. So far, we have been able to accommodate all who want to attend games. We also recognize that football games will present new challenges.
Please understand, first, that we must still abide by social distancing guidelines with 6’ distancing and masks for anyone 3 years or older. Additionally, all spectators must sit in the stands and not stand along the fence. Stands will be marked to support distancing. At this time, there will be no concessions available.
Those spectators who hold punch cards must purchase tickets just as other spectators. Punch cards are permitted for all other sports except football as there has been adequate space for all other sporting events to this point.
We will have a progression to open up ticket sales. First tickets will be available only to families of student athletes, cheerleaders and band members. Families are limited to TWO tickets per game. All family tickets must be purchased by Wednesday at noon of the week of the game. We will pull this information and review it on Thursday to determine how many home slots are available for students and the general public to purchase on Friday. We will open the link for open ticket sales to students and the public on Friday around noon.
Visitor tickets will be made available for online purchase on the day of the game.
All spectators must bring their phone to the game to show purchase of the ticket and enter the gates.
PTSA No-Fuss Fundraiser: Ms. Kristen Tyson was the winner of our first wreath from Creative Creations by Nicole & she chose the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Making our Schools Safe Learning Environments
WCPSS has created and shared a document to prepare families for return to campus. While most of our students will not return this semester, it would be wise to review this information. You may also have younger students for which this information is important now. Go to the Return to Campus Guide linked here. It will address student requirements, cleaning plans, transportation questions and more.
What if my Ram’s WCPSS-issued Chromebook or Hotspot is not working properly?
WCPSS has a family help desk to support your needs. Please visit https://www.wcpss.net/domain/17256. You will complete a form online to which a WCPSS employee from the Help Desk will respond with a call to you.
Have a great weekend and stay RAM STRONG!
Best,
Mrs. Lassiter
