2021 Yearbooks are in! If you were not able to pick-up your yearbook on Wednesday, contact Ms. Hatcher, rhatcher@wcpss.net, to schedule an appointment by July 30th for pick-up. 2021 AP Summer Institute - August 4, 2021, 9:00am-Noon:  Sign up for AP Summer Institute

Open to all Rolesville High School students registered for an Advanced Placement (AP) course for the 2021-2022 school year

• Students will rotate through sessions to learn critical skills for success in the AP classroom, as well as have the opportunity to register for the AP portal (required for taking the AP test) and meet some of their AP teachers.

• The following sessions will be available to participants:

• Registering for the AP Portal

• How to Self-Assess your Knowledge to Prepare for Tests

• How to Read Large Amounts of Text & Study AP Content

• How to Take Effective Notes

• Time Management, Realistic Expectations, and the Mindset of an AP Student

Schedules:  Counselors are reviewing schedules to make sure students have required courses and proper sequencing.  It is a tedious process and will take quite a while to complete.  We hope that the majority of the task is completed by early August.  At that time, students can look at their schedules and make schedule change requests.  We will provide the parameters to request a change and the link to do so when the time comes.  I have had a couple of emails and wanted to make sure all are aware that this process will come a bit later.

Freshman Ram Camp:  We will provide further information in the near future, but I want to make sure that you have the date on your calendar if you have a rising freshman.  We will run two sessions on August 16th, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Students will be assigned to a session by last name.  We will notify you of the session along with details.  We will not host an in-person parent session but will plan to post a virtual information session for parents to watch as it is convenient.

Sophomore Information Session:  Some of our sophomores have not yet been in the building and probably would like to have an information session and guided tour.  If you are interested, please make sure you complete this form as soon as possible.  You will need to use your Ram’s WCPSS email account to the form.  This information will determine the specifications about what we can and will offer.  Once we have more information, we will provide you with more insight.

PreACT Scores:  If your Ram took the PreACT and you want the scores, we have score sheets in Student Services.  If you are okay with waiting until the school year begins, we can distribute then.

Student Services: Our Student Services staff is updating information on their webpage as new information becomes available.  It would be helpful to periodically check the information this summer and familiarize yourself with the information that they offer and maintain on the site.  It would be helpful to pay careful attention to the following sections if they are topics that might apply to you.

Big things happening at RHS on August 21st: We will start the day with Rams Rise and Run.  You can find out more here:  http://races.fastrams.me.

The festivities will continue throughout the morning and afternoon with the Motors and Market event hosted by the RHS Band. It costs nothing to come out and enjoy our community event from 10-2 for the motor show and 10-4 for the market! We will be hosting a classic car/motorcycle/Jeep show with trophies (register if you want to enter your vehicle in the competition!!!!) and a market event in the stadium! (register if you would like to be a vendor!)

Preparing for RHS Rams Racing Series:  The Rams XC & Track Teams are hosting a series of community events this upcoming year. The goal is to engage Rolesville with the community, encourage healthful living, and raise funds for the Rams XC & Track programs. We would love for you to join us either (a) as a participant or (b) as a volunteer to help make the activity function well.

• April 30: Rams SPRINGtacular Run

We know COVID will still be here in the new school year.  The administrative team has been talking about the impact going into the new year.  There will still be cases and the potential for necessary quarantine of 10, 14 o4 24 days.  While no student is required to get a vaccination, those who are vaccinated with both doses at least two weeks prior to the exposure will not be required to quarantine if exposed.  The impact on learning and participation in school activities could be great for those who are quarantined, especially given the transition back to the building for most students.   I make mention of this for your consideration.  If students are planning to be vaccinated, it would be most helpful to have the second vaccine complete two weeks before students return to school.

Class of 2022 Senior Portraits:  Appointments are now available for your portrait session on August 2-6. See the flyer for more information: in English, in Spanish. Students will pay their session fees based on which session they would like to do. To help you prepare, the prices for seating will be:

1.      Formals/Cap and Gown - $19.95

2.      All backgrounds - $39.95

Senior proofs will be emailed to the email address that students use when they sign up for their appointment. The email will be verified on picture day.  Students will have the opportunity to go to any of the high schools that Strawbridge does this summer if they are not able to make it the week Strawbridge is at Rolesville High.  Appointments are now available for your portrait session on August 2-6. Addition to Senior Portrait Information:  Strawbridge does not send reminder cards to sign up.  Please make sure you take note and sign up based on this email or posts from the school website.  Do it now to prevent frustration later.

Senior Portrait Options:  If your Ram cannot make it during the times set for RHS pictures, it is fine to sign up for open times at other schools who are served by Strawbridge.  Please access the links for these other schools to sign up.
