Proctor Needs for Exams:  We are in desperate need of parents to help with proctoring. A senior parent can earn up to two additional graduation tickets for volunteer service during the exams.  Each slot worked translates to one additional ticket.

We have also added the opportunity for parents to earn free admission to an athletic event.  We will need particular information regarding the event and the date. If the event is missed, it is not transferable to another event.  A maximum of one admission is allowed.

Preparations for first semester Honor Roll Celebration - February 21st:  Each year, PTSA sponsors the honor roll celebration in February.  There will be a Sign-up Genius in the near future to gather water bottles, juice boxes, cookies, napkins and individual hand wipes for the event.  It is particularly helpful to get cookies right after Valentine's Day when they go on sale, so heads up! We will send the sign-up soon!

PTSA Board Nominations:  The current board is taking nominations for the 2020-21 board positions.  If you are interested or have a nomination, please contact Candy Terrell-Galke at candyterrellgalke@gmail.com   Nominations are needed no later than April 1st.

PTSA Reindeer Day 2020 (Nov. 7th) Planning:  The PTSA Board is also thinking ahead to next year’s event.  They are in need of people who are willing to oversee specific functions of the event.  At this time, they need someone to oversee the raffle, coordinate volunteers, manage marketing and oversee clean-up.  If you are willing to do any one of these roles, please let Mrs. Lassiter know or let one of the current board members know.

    PTSA Scholarship:

    1. The deadline for seniors to join PTSA is April 13th in order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship.  One scholarship will be awarded for $500 to a student who will be going to a four-year school. Another scholarship will be awarded for $500 to a student who will be going to a two-year school.
    2. PTSA needs volunteers who are not senior parents who are willing to be scholarship readers.  Please email Mrs. Lassiter at dlassiter@wcpss.net if you are willing to assist.

Youth Leadership Rolesville Applications:  It is hard to believe, but it is time for the next of applications for the 2020-21 Youth Leadership Rolesville cohort.  This opportunity is for students who live in the 27571 zip code. It follows a Hugh O’Brien leadership model and allows students to learn about and contribute to their community.  Students visit and learn about local landmarks, the local government, meet people who are central to the function of Rolesville and more. They also participate in projects that help them grow through unique experiences that are not replicated within the school.  Applications can be found online at

https://rolesvillechamber.org/youth-leadership-rolesville/ and are due by February 29th.

Elizabeth City State University Winter Open House Bus Trip:  ECSU is offering a bus trip for interested students to visit campus on Feb. 11th.  The $25 fee covers the bus ride from Tower Shopping Center (behind Popeyes) to campus and arrival back to campus around 11:30 PM. Lunch and a basketball game will also be included. Students who are interested may come to Student Services to get an application.  Applications should be sent soon as this opportunity is first-come, first served.

Daily Announcements:  Sometimes, students say that they missed announcements for a variety of reasons.  If you want to make sure your family is aware of the announcements (sports, arts, testing, schedules) that impact students day-to-day, check our school website under “Our School” and then “Daily Announcements.”
