RHS Weekly Updates | July 9, 2018
New
Office hours and staffing: As I am sure you are aware, we operate with limited staff. The office hours are 7AM-3PM. I wanted to make sure you all are aware in case you have business and need to plan to come to school or call during office hours. Likewise, administrators, counselors and clerical staff are in and out as not all employees are 12-month employees. It is possible that folks who are not 12 month staff will not see email for a period of time.
Summer Family Bulletin: We are planning to send dates and updates as we have for the last two years through snail mail. Anticipate something late July to help everyone prepare for preschool and start of school events.
Parking and Off-Campus Passes: We are very much aware that we need to send information about how we will handle sales this year. We are planning to have payments made through the Online School Portal on our website. There is a very good chance that the cost will increase and we are waiting for confirmation from the Board of Education on this amount. The fees are flat fees set for all of WCPSS high schools. More to come...
ACT/SAT before Senior Year: I spoke with the juniors last year to remind them that college applications come quicker than students often prepare to take the ACT or SAT. Free Summer Audiobooks Program for Teens - SYNC: Teens can get two free book downloads per week. Visit www.audiobooksync.com. Titles change every Thursday at 7 AM. Books are available for 7 days only for download. Once downloaded, they are yours to keep.
AP Summer Assignments: Some teachers require summer work while others do not. This week, we got information from teachers of the following courses and posted that information online in the Academics section. Under Academics, go to Advanced Placement and then RHS AP Courses. The courses that have information are AP English Lang, AP English Lit, AP Music Theory, AP Studio Art, AP Calculus AB-BC and AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Physics, AP European History, AP Human Geography, AP Psychology, AP US History, AP World History, and AP Spanish. Work may or may not be required, but clarity about the work has been posted.
Senior Portraits: Remember that we will have portraits/packages taken on site the week of July 30th. There will be two different sitting fee types which will be explained in the letter: either $15 or $25. When the students are here, they will take some combination of the tux/drape, cap and gown, indoor informal or outdoor informal. The letter will explain more.
There will be tux/drape makeups during the school year for seniors, but that will be the only pose. If that week at the end of July into August will not work, Strawbridge will open up slots at other schools. It is important to make a plan so as not to find out that no slot is available. Contact Surojini Winterton at Swinterton@strawbridge.net to reschedule your appointment.
