Hey, Ram families!
The start of school is almost here!!!! YAY!
I suspect that you will hear from me several times this week in preparation for the start of school on Monday, Aug. 17th. I would like to share things in snippets all week to remind you of things and prepare you for what is coming up.
Technology Survey
We have posted another link to attempt to gather all information from folks who need a Chromebook or a hotspot. If you have not already responded to the WCPSS survey, we need you to respond to our survey right away. We have to provide this information to the county to help them organize for distribution of devices. The survey is linked to our homepage and here. If you completed the WCPSS survey, please do not complete our survey unless you need something more that you originally requested.
Device Distribution
RHS will not be a device distribution site. WCPSS is compiling all information and will ASSIGN you a date, time and location to pick up the device(s). RHS and even the sites where the devices will be distributed do not have that information. Please watch your email carefully to make sure you do not miss your appointment.
Student WakeID log-ins
We had all student log-in passwords reset to their student number. When the student logs in for the first time, he or she will need to use his or her student number as the password and will then be prompted to change the password. We knew that lots of students would likely forget over the break, so we are starting with a clean slate. Please have your wonderful Ram try to log into the WakeID portal asap to assure that he or she is ready to go on Monday.
Schedules available to view
We have opened up Powerschool to allow families to see the schedules. Some folks have stated that you are still seeing last year’s schedule. You need to log out of the app if that is what you are using and log back in to refresh and get the new schedule.
If you cannot access the schedule online
We will be available on Thursday and Friday this week from 10-11:30 AM to print a hard copy of the schedule. Some of you may not be able to log in if you are new to Wake and do not know your ID information. We want to help you be ready for day one, so please come to school during these times to get help.
Parent Portal Access
WCPSS has a page with very explicit instructions about how to request Parent Portal access. It is found on the WCPSS website. Look under Parents and then Student Information (Home Base) where you will find step-by-step instructions for all that you need to do to request access to the portal to see your Ram’s academic progress.
Communication from the Teacher
I am going to ask each teacher to email their students by Friday with information regarding how classes will begin on Monday. It is very important that students look for this email to know how and what to do.
Bell Schedule:
Go to the RHS website. We have posted the bell schedules that we anticipate using this semester. We will start with the one at the bottom which is Plan B Transition, Plan C, Virtual Academy. Students will start class with the chickens at 7:30 on Monday morning.
Supplies
Most work will be done with the computer, but some classes may need supplies. AP classes usually have textbooks. Math classes have workbooks. Art classes need art supplies and so on. The teachers will tell students what they need to pick up from school or purchase for class when they meet with students on Monday. We are going to set distribution days on Tuesday (18th) and Thursday (20th) for students to pick up things that need to be distributed at the school. More information will be forthcoming to explain how we will split this up to protect the health and safety of everyone.
Schedule Change Requests
The form to make a change will go live on the 12th and will be active through the 18th. NOTE: the last day is the 18th, which is a change from the previously mentioned date. We will not make changes based on emails to counselors or an administrator. All requests must go through the form.
I will chat with you again soon. Until then, take good care!!!!
Best,
Mrs. Lassiter
